Lochaber Ideas Week 2018
Another successful Lochaber Ideas Week took place recently – the 12-16th November – organised by Lochaber chamber of Commerce and in partnership with DYW West Highland.
Lochaber Ideas Week 2018 consists of a range of events and topics including inspiring speakers, expert business training, networking and an excellent opportunity to bring the Lochaber business community together. Now in its fifth year, the week provides a platform for local businesses to celebrate entrepreneurship and creative thinking within their businesses. The annual event was established as a catalyst to create and prosper fresh and vibrant ideas and business objectives in the local area by providing a platform for individuals to share ideas and present opportunities.
Ferguson Transport and Shipping, annually have attended many events with this year’s programme being no different. We attended various events including; John Paul Hughes fantastic seminar called “Think Different: Creative Sales & Marketing” which discussed various creative techniques to use in connecting with your business audience. Members of the team also attended An Evening with Michael ‘Eddie the Eagle’ Edwards on Monday evening where he told his amazing story of perseverance and courage. We also once again, attended Around Lochaber in 80 Tables, which provided a great opportunity to network with other fantastic local businesses. On Wednesday afternoon some of our apprentices attended DYW’s Bridge to Bridge event which received fantastic feedback, the event – a mixture of inspirational presentations and hands-on seminars – was targeted at high school and college students.
Later on in the week some of our team attended both the “Strategically Social – Social Media for Customer Care” and Don McNaughton’s seminar “Unlock your Potential: High Performance Seminar.”
On Thursday evening, Ferguson Transport & Shipping were also delighted to sponsor the Charles Kennedy lecture. The lecture was delivered by author and broadcaster Alistair Campbell.
Alistair was a close friend of Charles Kennedy; and on the evening he delivered a thought provoking and personal insight in memory of the former Liberal Democrat leader and long-serving Lochaber MP. His lecture focused on the themes of mental illness, addiction, and the importance of male friendship. The script from Mr Campbell’s lecture can be found at the following link: https://alastaircampbell.org/
Ferguson Transport & Shipping also rounded off the week by attending the Gala Dinner – where a great night was had by all!
