Latest News From Ferguson Transport
New Corpach Centre to open in December
Here is the latest image of our new depot ready to open before the New Year!

Kishorn Update - June 2009
Ferguson Transport (Spean Bridge) Ltd have also recently made further investments in their port facilities at Kishorn, in the way of a new maintenance facility for plant and equipment along with new purpose built forktruck handling equipment. The port handles fish food, roundwood, aggregate and sand etc and is currently used as a supply hub for shipping out products, plant and equipment for the new Rassay pier project.

Managing Director Alasdair Ferguson quoted “we are delighted that this project for the new workshop and offices are now up and running, it has been two years in the planning. Whilst the current economic climate is not great we feel it is the correct time to proceed with our new facilities looking to the future, giving us the potential to expand, consolidate part of our operations under the one roof and bringing us closer to our customers in the area. This will also cut down on the downtime, labour and fuel costs running our fleet of 40+ vehicles and 80+ trailers out to Spean Bridge for inspection, maintenance and repair.

Creation of new Operational Centre at Corpach Port
Ferguson Transport apprentices Zands Ferguson and Shaun Oliver cut the first turf on the Ferguson Transport new Operational Centre.

The development includes a new head office to accommodate 15+ office staff, including directors, along with a new purpose built HGV service and repair workshop to accommodate 11+ staff. The new workshop will have three service bays, plus a separate VOSA test lane for HGV’s and a tacho centre for service and repair. The new workshop will have training facilities for staff, offices and drivers rest room with welfare facilities.

Also in the photograph is Managing Director, Alasdair Ferguson, fellow directors Jack Ferguson, Carol MacKinnon and Leslie Innes. John Workman and Henry MacDonald of the main contractor, RE Campbell Joinery Ltd, John Strachan QS of Samuel & Partners, Duncan Kelly of D Kelly Design, architects of the project and Helen Cameron, of HIE who have supported the project along with European Union assistance with funding from European Regional Development Fund, Investing in the Future.

The project is now underway and is anticipated to be completed mid November. The development comes at a good time locally creating jobs in the construction industry at a time when the present economic climate is at an all time low.

Kishorn Port Development
Development of the Kishorn port facility is the biggest step that Ferguson Transport has taken in the last few years.

Managing Director, Alasdair Ferguson, said "This has been a major project for us and has taken nearly two years to bring to fruition. However the integration of road and sea freight enables us to offer an efficient and more cost effective service to our customers."

Alasdair added "This is in line with government policy to integrate freight services and cut down road miles particularly in rural areas where the road infrastructure is very fragile and lacks sufficient investment or available funds for major improvements"
